I had recently the chance, to join a dinner cruise at Manohra Cruise. A really really nice experience.
The journey started at BTS Sala Daeng and headed to BTS Saphan Thaksin. Arrived there, I just had to follow the signs to "Saphan Pier". Bangkok Marriott Resort and Spa provides unlike many other high class hotels, small boats free of charge. The short tripp to the hotel pier takes only 20 minutes but gives you already a fantastic view at the amazing scenery on the river. A cold towel is provided short after the shuttle boat left the pier. After a busy day in the heat of Bangkok a welcome cool down.
Once arrived at the hotel pier, the Manohra boat is waiting already. Of course it is also possible to board on Saphan Pier. This requires a prior notice to Manohra Cruise Ltd. But for me I see it like this: why not take the shuttle boat and enjoy the 20 minutes ride already on the river and enjoy the light of the sea?! It is also a wonderful chance to leave the busy day in Bangkok behind, relax and put you in a good mood and make you ready for a romantic candle light dinner.
As soon as you arrived on the Hotel pier the friendly staff will lead you to the cruising boat and give you a warm welcome - the typical Thai way, which I always enjoy and appreciate. Once you decided for a table, another cold towel is provided. After a few minutes of waiting, the boat leaves the pier.
Depending on which menu you have ordered an either 6 or 8 set menu.
In route you will experience and enjoy the endless variety of river life - passing the famous Wat Arun (The Temple of Dawn), the magnificent Grand Palace, the Royal Barges-house and numerous other temples during the romantic dinner. The staff is very attentive. Also some special desires can be made true in case of an allergy or dislikes for certain food e.g. Seafood. For sure, you have plenty choices.
During the journey you will get some explanations about the most interesting landmarks on the river. After about 1 hour, at the "Kings barks" we turned around and went back to the Manohra Pier. We were still eating and also enjoying the enjoyable scenic at the river. Hundreds of barks, boats and cruisers are still on the river. Some of them are very nice and impressive lit. Although, we were all the time busy with eating the delicious food, we had enough time to take pictures.
Around 9:45pm we arrived at the Taksin Public pier. The bark will stop here on request and you can take a taxi or the BTS on your way back to the hotel.
I would like to take the opportunity to say THANK YOU to the Manohra Crew for this wonderful and unforgetable evening on board the bark. You should also try it out at your earliest convenience and you will never regret. |
