Arrival in Yangon |

Meet on arrival at Yangon International Airport and transfer to hotel. In the afternoon Yangon´s finest – gold plated monuments like the Shwe Dagon Pagoda, standing 109 m tall. Note: If your arrival is in the afternoon, we take you on this city tour before
leaving Yangon.

02 |
Yangon –Excursion Twante (B) |
| |
Meet the past on a river boat! Full day excursion on Twante Canal to the Ayeyarwady Delta. In Twante George Orwell spent his days in the Colonial Service and wrote his furious novel “Burmese Days”: Love scorned … but Twante (and Myanmar) are much too beautiful for bitterness. On to the potters and the weavers and the big golden pagoda by horse carts
or rickshaw. In Twante time has come to a standstill.

03 |
Yangon - Bagan. (B) |

Early morning flight to Bagan (80 minutes). Full day visit of the world´s largest temple
and pagoda complex. This is not a temple
rally, we show you the most beautiful and most
important spots, at a leisurely pace true to our
motto: less is more. Enjoy the eternal beauty
and serenity of Bagan and catch its genius
loci.

Another full and rewarding day in
and around Bagan. In the evening we attend
the traditional marionette theatre (stringpuppets).

05 |
Excursion Mount Popa . (B) |
| |
Full day excursion to the steep cragged
(flow-er rock) Mount Popa. This volcanic
plug, known as Popa (Sanskrit=flower), is sacred
to the Burmese as “Olympus of their Buddhas
and spirits (nats)”. Stairs lead you to the peak
of this “stone flower” which is covered with
temples and shrines. Then two hours through
the plains with palmyra palms (a delicious
palm wine is made here – which, of course,
might be tasted) back to Bagan.

06 |
Bagan - Pakokku - Pakangyi - Monywa. (B) |
| |
Two mighty rivers determine this day: At
Pakokku you cross the Ayeyarwady and at
Pakangyi you meet the Chidwin whose course
you follow till you reach Monywa - a full day
trip away from tourist cross roads, pristine
pastoral Burma.

Monywa - Powindaung - Sagaing - Mandalay . (B) |

You cross the Chidwin by boat and are taken
to the caves of Powindaung by pickups. The Powindaung Caves – grand moments of
sacred art in cave temples, sidereal hour of
Buddhism. In the afternoon you continue to
Sagaing, an important centre of meditation.
Stop at Kyaukka, famous for its lacquerware – we visit the artists. In the evening we reach
Mandalay.

08 |

Discover Mandalay in leisure, a full day´s visit of
Burma´s last royal city where the last Burmese
dynasty had to surrender at the end of the
19th century when the British expanded their
Colonial Empire. Mandalay´s variety of sights
is impressive – the country´s biggest and most
beautiful Golden Buddha, the largest Marble
Buddha … and you can go treasure hunting in
the city´s manifold quaint boutiques. But first we
visit the near-by royal city of Amarapura with its
many temples and the world´s longest teakwood
bridge. Experience a wonderful sunset cruising
from a small boat near the bridge.

DAY 09 |
Mingun - Heho - Lake Inle . (B) |

We travel the Ayeyarwady for 1 hour upstream to Mingun where a mighty king once tried to
build the world´s biggest pagoda – and failed.
Yet even the dimension of his failure is still
impressive. In the afternoon half-hour flight
to Heho on the Shan plateau towards the
Thai border where the Shan people have their
settlements – another hour and we reach Lake
Inle.

This is an entire day in the boat visiting
floating gardens and floating villages,
floating markets and floating pagodas – the
floating world of the Intha, the famous legrowing
fishermen. In the afternoon we take
small boats to the fantastic scenery of the
Shan pagodas at In Dein.

DAY 11 |
Lake Inle - Yangon - Bago (B) |

Change of scenery: Morning flight from Heho to Yangon and on to the former domain of the Mon people: Bago, once centre of the empire of the Mon, is home to extraordinar sights - the biggest Reclining Buddha, the highest Golden Pagoda witness the glorious past whereas in Kyaikpun four colossal Buddha's protect the four points of the compass.

DAY 12 |
Bago - Kyaikhytiyo (B) |

Drive in southern direction through teak and rubber plantations to the Golden Rock of Kyaikhytiyo. After half an hour by truck and a 1 hour's climb we reach the peak and enjoy the magnificient view. This gold plated boulder perched on a crest - held only by Buddha's hair from tumbling down - Magic of Faith!

In the wee of the morning's hours the jungle mointains are saturated with fog-rise and create an unforgettable sunrise. The retun trip to Yangon offers plenty photo ops to complete your personal Myanmar collection.
