Luangsay Cruise 2 Days 1 Night

   
 

PROGRAM DOWN:

  • From 1 November 2011 to 30 April 2012 and 1-31 October 2012, the cruise departs every Monday, Thursday and Friday. Every Sunday, the cruise departs with Pak Ou I.
  • From 1 May 2012 to 30 September 2012, the cruise departs every Monday and Friday
   
DAY 01
Houei Sai – Pakbeng (Lunch, Dinner)
 

Luang Say boat leaves slow boat pier at 9a.m. for cruising down the Mekong River to Luang Say Lodge in Pakbeng. One stop is made en route to Pakbeng to observe a rural life along the Mekong River at Ban Houy Phalam; a Kamu village. A buffet lunch is served on board. The boat arrives at Luang Say Lodge before sunset for an overnight stay and a dinner is served at terrace overlooking the Mekong River.

   
DAY 02
Pakbeng – Pak Ou – Luang Prabang (Breakfast, Lunch)
 

A continental breakfast is served at terrace from 7a.m. The boat leaves Luang Say Lodge at 8a.m. for the second day trip and the first stop is at Ban Baw to observe the processing of the traditional rice alcohol. A buffet lunch is served on board. The boat stops again opposite the mouth of the Nam Ou River to visit Pak Ou caves where there are two caves ‘Tham Ting’ and ‘Tham Phoum’ and thousands of Buddha images are found. The boat arrives in Luang Prabang (a UNESCO world heritage city) before sunset.

DAY 01

Luang Say boat leaves Auberge Calao pier at 7a.m. for cruising up the Mekong River to Luang Say Lodge in Pakbeng. A continental breakfast is served on board. The boat first stops opposite the mouth of the Nam Ou River to visit Pak Ou caves where there are two caves ‘Tham Ting’ and ‘Tham Phoum’ and thousands of Buddha images are found. Pakbeng – Houei Sai (Breakfast, Lunch)
 

A continental breakfast is served at terrace from 6a.m. The boat leaves Luang Say Lodge at 7a.m. for the second day trip and one stop is made en route to Houei Sai to observe a rural life along the Mekong River at Ban Houy Phalam; a Kamu village. A buffet lunch is served on board. The boat arrives at slow boat pier in Houei Sai before 5p.m. (You may continue your journey to Chiang Rai, Thailand the same day.)

Please Note

  • Luang Say Cruise Downstream departs from slow boat pier in Houei Sai at 9a.m. so please be at Luang Say office in Houei Sai (next to Laos immigration) by 8.30a.m. at the latest.
  •  Luang Say Cruise Upstream departs at 7a.m. from Auberge Calao pier (Yellow Hotel) on Mekong River Road so please be at the pier by 6.45a.m. at the latest.
  •  For Luang Say Cruise Downstream, a luggage tag will be given at Chiang Khong (Thailand border).
  •  A continental breakfast is served on board for the first morning for program up.
  •  Please bring a jersey or a jacket as it can be cool at Luang Say Lodge and on the boat during October to February.
  • It is possible to leave your suitcase and luggage on the boat and take only a small daypack with changing clothes. This is an advisory as the steps to Luang Say Lodge are quite steep.
  • For safety reasons and according to weather conditions, the program may be changed without prior notice.

Program includes:

  • A transfer from Laos immigration at Houei Sai to slow boat pier for program down or vice versa for program up
  • 2-day cruise with stops and admission fees at visiting sites serviced by English and French speaking escorts
  • 1 night accommodation at Luang Say Lodge
  • Meal plan as mentioned in the program
  • Coffee, tea and drinking water on board and during meals
  • Crew services during the cruise
  • Group insurance

Program excludes:

  • A shuttle boat (15 minutes) from Chiang Khong to Houei Sai for program down or vice versa for program up
  • A transfer from Wat Xieng Thong pier in Luang Prabang to hotel (Program Down)
  • A transfer from hotel in Luang Prabang to Auberge Calao pier (Program Up)
  • Visa, immigration and/or overtime fees in Thailand and in Laos
  • Soft and alcohol drinks during the trip
  • Services in Luang Prabang
