DAY 1 : Guwahati
Welcome to Guwahati, gateway to the Northeast of India. Our airport representative will be happy to receive you on your arrival at Guwahati Airport. Step into our comfortable vehicle and drive through the seven hills to the Shillong capital of Meghalaya – known as “the Abode of the Clouds”.
You will experience the hospitable nature of the Khasis while being served a hot lunch in Nongpoh town. Enroute stop and admire the Umiam Lake or Bara Pani. Once you arrive in Shillong we will help you check into your hotel. Overnight in Shillong.
DAY 2 : Shillong Peak
After breakfast we will drive to Cherrapunjee and there you will experience the roar of the Nohkalikai Waterfalls. Then visit the famous limestone caves of Mawsmai and the root bridge. In the late evening we drive back to Shillong. We stay overnight in Shillong.
DAY 3 : Shillong to Bhulakpong or Tezpur
In the morning you will enjoy some local sightseeing; visit the Elephant Falls, and the beautiful Christian Cathedral. From there we visit the Don Bosco Museum, which showcases the indigenous culture of entire Northeast of India. Then drive to Tezpur or Bhulakpong.
DAY 4 : Bhulakpong to Dirang
Today we drive to Dirang, a 221 km. / 7-8 hr. drive. The journey is along a very scenic road traversing beautiful forested hills and crossing over the Nichephu Pass to the Tanga Valley. The road climbs through a series of hairpin bends to the town of Bomdila, located at a 2800 m height, and then descends to the Dirang Valley, located at 1600 m. Overnight at a hotel in Dirang.
DAY 5 : Dirang to Tawang
On day 5 we drive to Tawang (140 km.). Our enchanting, journey to Tawang continues over the 4150 meters high Sela Pass, which was once a battleground between the Indian and Chineses armies. Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 6 : Tawang
You will explore the 400-year old Tawang Monastery. The famous Gelden Namgyal Lhatsa, popularly known as the Tawang Monastery was founded by Mera Lama Lodre Gyamsto. This monastery is largest in the country and is the second largest in Asia. It is known as the fountain head of the spiritual life of the Gelukpa sect of the Mahayana school of Buddhism. The inner walls of Dukhang, the assembly hall, are printed with murals of various divinities and saints. With its architecture and rich history, it is everyone’s preferred place to visit.
We will also visit the Urgelling Monastery dating back to 1489, followed by a visit to a Monpa village. Stay overnight at the hotel.
DAY 7 : Tawang to Bomdila
Today we drive back to Bomdila (190 km.) over the Sela Pass to Dirang. On the way we stop stop at Jung to explore another Monpa village and to visit the Indo-China War Memorial. Stay overnight at the hotel.
DAY 8 : Bomdila to Kaziranga
In the morning you will visit Rabgyaling Gontse Gompa, Upper Gompa and Thupchob Gatseling Gompa. A bit more sightseeing at a few more choice places, and we drive on to the Kaziranaga National Park.
DAY 9 : Elephant Ride and Jeep Safari inside the national park
On day 9 you will experience elephant rides and a jeep safari inside the Kaziranaga National Park.
DAY 10 : Kaziranga to Guwahati, Explore Gawahati
After breakfast we will drive to Guwahati to visit the Khamakhiya and Unanda temples. Then it’s overnight in Guwahati.
DAY 11 : Drive to airport or train station
Drive to airport and tour ends.
