DAY 1: Guwahati to Bhalukpong
Arrival at Guwahati Airport and drive to Bhalukpong. On the way, we will visit a local market and the Kamakya Temple, a revered Hindu shrine dedicated to Shakti, the goddess of power. Then we will check in at your hotel. Overnight in Bhalukpong.
DAY 2: Bhalukpong to Bomdila
After breakfast, we begin the drive to Bomdila. From Bhalukpong our journey into the Eastern Himalayas begins. 20 km. from Bhalukpong, we will stop to visit the Tippi Orchid Research Center; the premier research centre for orchids in the world and largest of its kind in all of Asia. Then we continue our travels. The route from here features many breathtaking views of mountains, rivers and waterfalls. We will make a stop at the famous Nag Mandir at Kaspi Village, also famed for its mountain cliffs which house numerous beehives. Overnight in Bomdila.
DAY 3: Bomdila to Dirang
Early morning takes us on a 35-minute walk through town to visit a revered Buddhist monk for oracle reading. Then we drive on to Dirang, a journey which brings us through beautiful scenery and pine-clad hills. We will stop to visit a well-known 9th century fortress and the adjoining village. Then we check in at at the hotel. After lunch, head to the picturesque Sangti Valley to visit the quaint local village and stroll at your leisure. We proceed to Chug village to witness local Monpa dances (Monpa is one of the major tribes of this state). The road to this particular hamlet was built only very recently, in 2013, making it a largely unexplored area. Overnight in Dirang.
DAY 4: Dirang to Tawang
After breakfast, we drive to Tawang. On the way, we will cross Sela Pass, which, at 13700 ft., is one of India’s highest motorable passes. We will make a stop here to take in the views of the majestic Sela Lake area. Then we visit Jaswant Garh, the site where the Indian soldier Jaswant Singh put up a last stand against the marauding Chinese army in the 1962 war. We proceed onwards to Nuranang and get a glimpse of the powerful Jang waterfall. Then arrive and check in at your hotel. Overnight in Tawang.
DAY 5: Tawang
After breakfast, we will head to Tawang monastery, the world’s second largest practising Buddhist monastery. It houses rare artifacts and an imposing Buddha statue. Then we proceed to the Khinmey and Urgelling Monasteries, the latter being the birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama. After lunch, we will also visit the Thuk Choening Nunnery. Spend the evening at your leisure and explore the markets of Tawang if you wish. Overnight in Tawang.
DAY 6: Tawang to Bomdila
Following an early morning breakfast, we will begin our journey back to Bomdila. On arrival, we visit the twin monasteries of Bomdila as well as the local market. Overnight in Bomdila.
DAY 7: Bomdila to Itanagar
By afternoon you will arrive in Itanagar, capital of Arunachal Pradesh. Here we will visit Itanagar Museum and Itanagar Gompa. Then, you will check in at your hotel and and have a chance to freshen up. Afterward, we visit an Adi house (Adi is one of the major tribes of the state) to experience a traditional Adi-style dinner accompanied by Adi folk dancing. Overnight in Itanagar.
DAY 8: Itanagar to Ziro
After breakfast, we begin the drive to Ziro. On the way, we’ll stop at the famous Assam Tea Gardens and Nyishi village (Nyishi is the largest tribe in the state). Ziro valley is known for its scenic beauty and for the amazing people that call it home. Here you will experience tribal delicacies, walk among uniquely cultivated paddy fields and meet a generation entrenched in tradition. Then you will check in at your hotel and stay overnight in Ziro.
DAY 9: Ziro
We will spend a full day in Ziro sightseeing, starting with a visit to the Ziro market after breakfast. Then we proceed to the Apatani village (another tribe of the state). After lunch, you will have a chance to visit the town’s craft emporium and museum, and in the evening you’ll watch and take part in Apatani folk dancing. After that, meet the local shaman and receive his prayers for a safe journey. Overnight in Ziro.
DAY 10: Ziro to Kaziranga
We begin our drive early in the morning to Kaziranga, the famed national park which is home to a variety of animals from the Indian Rhino to the Bengal Tiger. After this, you will check in at your hotel and stay overnight in Tezpur.
DAY 11: Kaziranga to Guwahati
Start the day with an early morning elephant ride. After breakfast and according to your flight schedules, we will send you to the airport for your onward journey. Tour ends.
