Description: This is the most popular way to travel in Vietnam, starting in Hanoi, finishing in Ho Chi Minh City with stops to visit all tourist highlights. There are plenty to see but with an extremely leisure schedule. You will travel from place to place but still have enough time to enjoy yourselves at each.

   
DAY 01
Arrival – Hanoi
 

On arrival at Noi Bai airport, you are met and transferred to hotel. Hanoi, Vietnam's capital, is a stylish and gracious city that retains an unique old world charm and some Asia‘s most striking colonial architecture.

DAY 02

Hanoi. (B)

 

This morning, we enjoy a half day city tour starting with the Ho Chi Minh Complex, containing the mausoleum of the nation’s founder Ho Chi Minh, the Presidential Palace, Ho Chi Minh’s house on stilts. Close to this site is the One Pillar Pagoda, which origin dates back to the foundation of Hanoi. We follow this with a trip to the Temple of Literature, well known as Vietnam’s first university. In the afternoon, we will explore the Ethnology museum for general information about hill tribe groups in Vietnam then continue to the peaceful lake of Hoan Kiem and the bustling Old Quarter, a maze of shopping streets and restaurants with a hotchpotch of architecture - traditional tube houses, religious buildings, artisans’ workshops and cottages, colonial houses and modern concrete edifices. We will see an evening performance of Hanoi's famous water and the rest of time is at leisure.

DAY 03

Hanoi – Halong. (B, L, D)

 

This morning, we start with a transfer out to the hauntingly beautiful Halong Bay. Arriving just before lunch, we will embark onto our traditional Vietnamese junk. The overnight cruise provides us with a fantastic view of the picturesque scenery blending with the sky and some 3,000 limestone islands  which amazingly rise from the clear and emerald water. The limestone karst formations are littered with beaches, grottoes and beautiful caves, some of which we will have chance to visit.

DAY 04
Halong – Hanoi. (B)
 

After the morning spent cruising to the Man’s head, Tortoise islands and visiting Luon cave by small bamboo boat, and an early lunch on board, we disembark at Halong wharf where our driver and guide are waiting to transfer us back to Hanoi.

DAY 05

Hanoi – Hue. (B)

 

After breakfast, we have some free time to relax until a transfer to Noi Bai airport for a flight to Hue -  Vietnam’s last feudal capital. This small and quiet city is widely known for magnificent architectures, pagodas and royal tombs lay in a number of small villages and surrounding hills. We spend this afternoon to visit Hue with the massive citadel, containing the Imperial City and the Purple Forbidden City. This Royal Residence was destroyed during the 1968 Tet Offensive; however it is still fascinating to walk among the ruins.

DAY 06
Hue. (B)
 

A fully exploration of Hue starting with a boat cruise upstream on the Perfume River which will give us a taste of the scenic countryside as well as an enjoyable visit to the beautiful pagoda of Thien Mu. Upon leaving this symbol of Hue we continue navigating to the mausoleum of Emperor Minh Mang, in a tranquil setting of gardens and lakes. The next stop of our trip is the elaborate royal tomb of Emperor Tu Duc and the famous pagoda of Tu Hieu. On returning to the city, we pass many fantastic eating spots where visitors may enjoy samples of local delicacies.

DAY 07

Hue – Danang – Hoian. (B)

 

This morning upon leaving Hue, we drive south to Hoian, which was originally a Cham seaport but has been influenced down the centuries by a myriad of traders from various cultures. The scenic road is hugging the coastline before crossing over the winding Hai Van pass. A view from the top of the pass is one of Vietnam’s most impressive panoramic scenes. We stop en route to visit the Cham Museum in Danang City, the China Beach and the Marble Mountain, whose peaks represent the five elements of the universe.

Hoian. (B)
 

The ancient architecture of Hoian is a fascinating combination of Vietnamese traditional characters with Chinese and Japanese influence. There are plenty to see in this delightful town, some of which are the famous Japanese Covered Bridges, Pottery Museum, 200 years old Tan Ky House, Chua Ong Pagoda and vibrant market. Today we include these on a walking tour past many low tiled houses scattered along the small streets and assembly halls, which reflect the town's multi-cultural past.

DAY 09
Hoian – Danang – Ho Chi Minh. (B)
 

An early morning transfer to Danang airport for a short flight to Ho Chi Minh still called Saigon by many locals. Ho Chi Minh City, contrary to its northern counterpart which is crowded with bikes and motorbikes, is exciting with numerous shopping area and sidewalk cafés. The rest of the day is at leisure.

DAY 10
Ho Chi Minh City. (B)
 

Morning time visit most attractive sightseeings in Ho Chi Minh City, beginning with Reunification Palace, which was the former residence of the Southern Vietnam President until end of April 1975. Close to the palace are some striking French colonial structures including the Notre Dame Cathedral and the Old Sai Gon Post Office. Afterwards, we’ll visit the History Museum where there is a special exhibition of Phu Nam country date backs the 2th century ‘Oc Eo’ civilisation. We also visit the Jade Emperor Pagoda, one of the best Taoist temples in Vietnam. This afternoon, we call in the Museum of War Remnants which provides a very partial, but riveting perspective of the Vietnam War and the Binh Tay market in China town area.

DAY 11
Ho Chi Minh – Tay Ninh – Cu Chi Tunnels – Ho Chi Minh. (B)
 

An early departure is required today in order to avoid the city heat to visit Cu Chi Tunnels, an incredible underground network constructed by Vietnamese fighters during the long struggle for independence. The tunnels contained hospitals, plus accommodation and schools, and were used as a military base for the Viet Cong in the American war. Afterwards, we continue to the head quarter of Cao Dai sect located in Tay Ninh. This religion was founded in 1923 and now numbers over 2 million members.

DAY 12
Ho Chi Minh - Can Tho. (B)
 

This morning we depart to explore the Mekong Delta region with a stop by Cai Be for a local traditional boat trip to visit daily life and activities of the local people who live along the river.  Visit the various fascinating local cottage industries including rice paper makers, bonsai nurseries before docking at Ving Long and continuing to Can Tho, the largest town in the Mekong Delta, for overnight.

DAY 13
Can Tho – Vinh Long – Ho Chi Minh. (B, L)
 

Can Tho is famous for Cai Rang floating market where hundreds of local boats drifting on the Mekong river and sell local agriculture products. An early wake up is required to start our trip before returning to hotel for breakfast. Group will head back to Ho Chi Minh before noon time in order to meet our lunch about half way to the city.

DAY 14
Ho Chi Minh – Departure. (B)
 

There is some free time to relax or further explore Ho Chi Minh on our own before having a transfer to Tan Son Nhat airport for our departure flight. Trip ends at the airport.
